Let's get personal! Women's rights are still a major issue both in the Developped and Developping World. While we are moving toward a more equal environment in the Developped world, women in many countries are still searching for freedom.
My husband is from Nepal and our family still lives in Tokha, Nepal. We currently offer Yoga Teacher Training, Women's Empowerment Sessions, and Day hikes to women in Nepal. These are trainings, growth sessions, and opportunities for adventure are more valuable than you could even begin to imagine. We are currently only able to offer these training for one month every 2 years and use online support to stay connected to our Nepalese community. When we hold our trainings, we do connect the Nepali community with local resources and aim to help them develop supportive communities within their abilities. We know that this is not enough and we DESIRE to do more!
I have personally seen young women protesting for the right to attend school and witnessed Acid being thrown at them. Women in Nepal are often shocked when I show up to teach trainings or lead a group if my child has a low grade fever or is crying when I am trying to leave the house even though they have their father, 2 Aunts, an Uncle, a Grandmother, and Great Grandmother at home with them. Baby girls are often given up for adoption or even aborted because the son is the one who will be responsible for the family, and take care of them. A girl is sometimes seen as just another mouth to feed.
Our family is working hard to be a part of changing this culture. Our company is currently offering scholarships to all of the women who desire to engage in our programs. We believe in partnership Empowerment through example. When you take a class and offer a donation, you offer an opportunity for another woman to receive education, empowerment resources, and a life changing experience. You can even come to Nepal with us and train alongside these women! Then, you can join our trek in the Himalayas and receive ultimate empowerment for yourself and your community! The relationships you develop will surprise you, soften your heart, and change your perspective forever!
What are our plans for the future? We want to build an Empowerment Center and Safe Space for Women and Children in our home town. We also want to open an Empowerment Center in Las Vegas to assist women and children in the US and help fund our center in Nepal. Furthermore, we want you to be a part of it. We want YOU to be a part of helping us build our center and when it is built, we want you to volunteer at the center in a capacity that suits you.
